Yeah... not defending the motorcyclists, but unless there is more to the story than the article states, illegal hooning doesn’t justify police opening fire in a metropolitan area on people committing misdemeanors/gross misdemeanors. Different story if they were armed, obviously.

I believe the precedent for the usage of force is if the person being chased is a danger to the public. I can definitely see some arguments for the usage of force, as they were being a danger to the public by weaving in and out of traffic. I can also see arguments against it, as discharging a firearm towards a moving object seems a bit risky to me. especially if there are other civilians near the criminals. I can’t find anything about whether they were armed or what else they were doing to endanger the public.
